British Library Goes Google

British Library Goes Google: "British Library goes Google
A Google-produced search engine will make it easier to search the British Library's website from today. Users will get Google-quality search results when searching our site, with quicker and more efficient searching. The Google Search Appliance will also go live on the Library's Intranet, ensuring that staff also benefit from the new technology. "

Nicola Clegg from the Library's web team said: "Millions of people visit the British Library's website every year to explore the wealth of material from our collections, including thousands of images and sound recordings as well as our digitised 'Treasures in Full'. And the Intranet is used by over 2,000 staff. After evaluating a number of options we chose the Google Search Appliance which met all our requirements. There was an extremely positive response to our pilot and we are confident that the new search engine will make our users' experience even better."
